Dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of a talented Ukrainian writer-innovator, unsurpassed master of expressionist short stories, poet, public figure and politician. The works of art of the prose writer are contained in one volume, but his name stands next to the names of the world's greatest novelists, they impress with their exceptional truthfulness, true originality and artistic perfection. The collection of short stories "Blue Book" became a notable milestone in the development of Ukrainian prose. It brought V. Stefanyk general recognition and was met with enthusiastic responses by I. Franko, Lesia Ukrainka, M. Kotsyubynsky, O. Kobylyanska, and the collection “Fireplace Cross” was perceived as an outstanding literary event.
On the obverse of the coin are placed: at the top - the small State Emblem of Ukraine, on both sides of which - 2021; in the center - a stylized composition: against the background of the window of the village house - a portrait of Vasyl Stefanyk, to the right of which - a spikelet, symbolizing the writer's pen; inscriptions: УКРАЇНА (above the portrait), denomination - 2 (right), ГРИВНІ (semicircle right), ВАСИЛЬ СТЕФАНИК 1871–1936 (semicircle below); logo of the Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine (right between the inscriptions).
The reverse of the coin on a mirror background depicts a lone figure of a man gathered for a long journey, in the foreground - a stone cross, to the right and left of which spikelets, on both sides of the figure - stylized birds.
