Dedicated to the famous scientist-surgeon, doctor of medical sciences, professor, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, one of the founders of the Ukrainian surgical school - Alexander Alekseevich Shalimov. O. O. Shalimov, author of over 800 scientific works and 112 inventions, initiated the creation of two research institutes in Ukraine - in Kharkiv and Kyiv. During his life spent about 40 thousand operations. He is widely known in the world for his work. He was a member of the International Union of Surgeons, the Surgeons Association of Ukraine, Austria, and Germany. Valid member of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine and the New York Academy of Sciences.

On the reverse of the coin there is a portrait of Alexander Shalimov, to the right of which there is a vertical inscription ОЛЕКСАНДР ШАЛИМОВ, a red drop (used tampodruk) and his life years 1918/2006.
