Rare Medal «The city of Heroes - Kherson» Ukraine War 2022 Coin Of KhersonThe commemorative medal is dedicated to unconquered Kherson, the heroic Kherson Oblast, which is washed by two seas and through which the land routes to the occupied Crimea run. Kherson Oblast is a land with a long history, the land of Cossack glory, the cradle of shipbuilding. And it was Kherson Oblast that was occupied by the enemy from the first days of the full-scale invasion, and Kherson is the only regional center that the Russian invaders managed to capture from February 24, 2022. Kherson Oblast became one of the centers of the partisan resistance movement, the residents of the city and region, despite the danger and aggression, resolutely went to rallies and organized a public resistance movement. The city was under occupation for 256 days, but today the Armed Forces of Ukraine returned Kherson under the Ukrainian flag!
The obverse of the medal features: inscriptions 2022/UKRAINE at the top, small National Coat of Arms of Ukraine at the bottom, composition in the center: lines from Lina Kostenko's historical novel "Berestechko" against the background of a stylized map of the city: DON'T ALLOW SUCH THOUGHTS/WHAT GOD WILL SHOW US FAVOR. /THE LIFE OF A HUMAN TERM IS BRIEF./THERE IS NO TIME FOR DEFEAT./LINA KOSTENKO; on the left - port cranes, on the right - the Stanislav-Adzhigol back lighthouse - a monument of historical and cultural heritage, an image of dolphins and seagulls; logo of the Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine (on the left above the cranes).
On the reverse of the medal, on a mirrored background, the inscription – KHERSON/CITY OF HEROES, which divides the field of the medal in two: in the upper part, a mirror composition symbolizing the public resistance to the Russian occupier and the joyful meeting of Ukrainian soldiers after liberation, in the lower part – a stylized panorama of the city with its historical buildings, Antonovsky Bridge, a sculpture from the Slavy Park memorial, a monument to the first ships, etc.
