    Societ pel Risanamente di Napoli
    Improve cityparts of NAPOLI,
The intervention, hypothesized since the mid-nineteenth century, was completed following a very serious cholera epidemic [1], which occurred in 1884. Under the pressure of the mayor of the time, Nicola Amore, in 1885 the law was approved for the rehabilitation of the city of Naples and on 15 December 1888 the Società pel Risanamento di Napoli was founded (merged after various vicissitudes into the Risanamento SpA , according to mayor Amore, the main causes of the spread of cholera.
It was decided to demolish numerous buildings to make room for Corso Umberto, Nicola Amore and Giovanni Bovio squares (Piazza Borsa), via A. Depretis and Galleria Umberto I. [2]
In reality, the situation remained unchanged behind the large Umbertine buildings: they served to hide the degradation and poverty of those districts rather than to solve their problems
