The operation of this is pretty simple.  Plug it in, and Windows will automatically detect it and install the necessary drivers.   Truly plug and play.
It has a built in speaker, but the quality is about what you'd expect from any cheap monitor's built in speaker.   Practically, plug your headphones into it, the quality is excellent.  It supports both the combined headphone/microphone, or separate.  Obviously, if you want to use speakers, plug them into either headphone jack.
The large volume knob lets you adjust the volume, but at least when I tried it, it's very slow to actually change the volume.
It is also a USB hub with 3 USB 2.0 ports. This gives you extra USB ports on your desktop, without needing to fish wires through to behind the PC.
The whole thing is in an aluminum case that looks and feels like it's high quality.
