Dedicated to perpetuating the heroism and honoring the memory of servicemen and members of volunteer formations who gave their lives in the struggle for independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. The feats of soldiers who selflessly defended our land are engraved in the recent history of our state and the Ukrainian army.
On the obverse of the coin there is an inscription UKRAINE (above in a semicircle), a small State Emblem of Ukraine (under the inscription), on both sides of the emblem the year of mintage is 2020, below on the left - denomination 10 UAH, in the center an allegorical composition - a field of sunflowers one of the symbols of the Ukrainian land, embody warmth, joy, life; it was sunflowers that became a kind of talisman and saved the lives of many of our soldiers during the fierce battles in eastern Ukraine; to the right of the field, like a wounded warrior, is a large sunflower with a broken stalk. The logo of the Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine is placed at the bottom.
The reverse of the coin depicts a large sunflower flower, which symbolizes Ukraine: below a petal-tear with a tamga - Crimea, on the right two curved petals - Donetsk and Luhansk regions; inscriptions: 29.08. (right); in a circle: DAY OF MEMORY (above), FALLEN DEFENDERS OF UKRAINE (below).
