Dedicated to the famous writer, publicist, ethnographer, historian, literary critic, translator, public figure - Panteleimon Aleksandrovich Kulish. P. Kulish is one of the most colorful figures of his time in Ukrainian literature. He is the author of phonetic spelling, which became the basis of the systematized modern Ukrainian spelling, the first Ukrainian historical novel ("Black Council"), the father of Ukrainian artistic translation (translated works of Shakespeare, Byron, Heine, Goethe, Schiller, the first translated the Bible into Ukrainian). He was actively involved in the formation of a conviction in the public consciousness of the vital need for the development of national literature, the Ukrainian language, without normal functioning of which at all levels the progress of the nation is impossible.
On the obverse of the coin is located: on the top left is the small State Emblem of Ukraine, under which the inscriptions: UKRAINE / 2 / ГРИВНІ / 2019 (on the left on a mirror background) and the logo of the Banknote-Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine (below). To the right is an embroidered towel and a quote from Kulishchev letter to the wife of Anna Barvinok: "OUR OWN / OTHERS WERE / IF YOU ARE UNIFORMED / UNDERSTAND / SINGLE / WORKED BY THE HEART / OVER THE REST / SOCIETY / NATIONAL / CONFIDENCE / IN UKRAINE".
On the reverse of the coin there is a portrait of P. Kulish, to the left of which are the letters of the alphabet, to the right are inscriptions: years of his life 1819/1897 and PANTELAYON / KULISH.
